Never been to a live stand up show? You're in for a treat. Comedy clubs are different from concerts, theaters, or even bar shows. Here's everything you need to know before your first time.
Before You Go
Buy Tickets in Advance
Most comedy clubs (including Triggered Comedy Club) sell tickets online. Shows can sell out, especially weekend headliners. Don't assume you can walk up and get in.
Check the Age Requirement
Many clubs are 21+. Triggered Comedy Club is strictly 21+. Bring your ID. No exceptions, even if you look old enough.
Arrive Early
Doors usually open 30 minutes before showtime. Early arrival means better seats. At Triggered, doors open at 7:30 PM for an 8:00 PM show.
When You Arrive
Seating
Most comedy clubs have table seating, not theater rows. You might share a table with strangers if your group is small. This is normal. Embrace it.
Pro tip: Front row is fun but risky. Comedians talk to the front row. If you don't want attention, sit middle or back.
Drink Minimum
Many clubs have a drink minimum (usually 2 items per person). This keeps the lights on. Order drinks, snacks, or both. It's part of the experience.
Food
Some clubs have full kitchens. Triggered Comedy Club has Double Tapp Grill on site with wings, burgers, gator bites, and more. Eat before or during the show.
During the Show
Put Your Phone Away
Seriously. Recording is usually not allowed, and a glowing screen ruins it for everyone. Enjoy being present for 90 minutes.
Don't Talk
This isn't a bar. The room is small and quiet. If you talk during the show, everyone hears you, including the comedian. And they will roast you.
Laugh Out Loud
Don't hold back. Comedians feed off the audience. The more you laugh, the better the show gets.
If You Get Picked On
It happens, especially in the front. Roll with it. The comedian isn't actually mad at you. It's part of the act. Laugh at yourself and you'll come out looking good.
After the Show
Tip Your Server
They're working hard in a dark room carrying drinks. Tip well.
Say Hi to the Comedian
Many comics hang out after the show to sell merch and meet fans. It's not weird to say you enjoyed it.
Tell Your Friends
Good shows survive on word of mouth. If you had fun, tell people.
